Role of Suspicion in Criminal Convictions - Emphasis on Proof: Suspicion, however strong, cannot replace proof in criminal cases. For a conviction based on circumstantial evidence, the chain of circumstances must be so complete that it leads only to the conclusion of the accused's guilt. In this case, the circumstances did not form a complete chain pointing to the appellant's guilt, leading to his acquittal. [Para 26]
