Anticipatory Bail Granted by Madras High Court in Wildlife Protection Case

Madurai, August 4, 2023 - In a significant legal development, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court granted anticipatory bail to a petitioner in a case pertaining to charges under various sections of the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972. The petitioner, S. Bakrudeen Ali Ahmed, had sought anticipatory bail against allegations of possession of prohibited commodities.

The Court’s decision, delivered by Justice G. Ilangovan, hinged on the interpretation of legal provisions and the crucial question of whether the recovered articles were truly banned commodities under the Wild Life Protection Act.
