Punjab Police Brutality Allegations Emerge as Advocate Reports Inhuman Treatment – FIR Registered
A shocking case of alleged police brutality has come to light as an advocate, Varinder Singh, has accused police officials of abetment of unnatural sex, causing injuries, and threats to his life and liberty. The incident reportedly took place in the premises of the police station CIA in Sri Muktsar Sahib Punjab.
Varinder Singh, who is currently confined in District Jail, Central Jail Sri Muktsar Sahib (Punjab), made these grave accusations against Inspector Raman Kumar, Incharge of CIA Staff, Senior Constable Ramandeep Singh Bhullar (S.P. Investigation), Senior Constable Harbans Singh, Senior Constable Bhupinder Singh, Constable Gurpreet Singh, and PHG Dara Singh, all of whom are associated with the CIA Staff in Sri Muktsar Sahib Punjab.
According to Varinder Singh’s statement, he suffered physical injuries as a result of police misconduct and was subjected to inhuman and humiliating treatment. He alleged that he was compelled to engage in a degrading act to maintain silence while in police custody. These allegations have raised serious concerns about police conduct in the area.
Varinder Singh’s statement has been treated as a formal complaint under section 2(D) of the Criminal Procedure Code, suggesting the commission of cognizable offenses. In response, Varinder Singh moved an application under section 156(3) of the Cr.P.C., which has been allowed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, [Location]. This decision mandates the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Sadar, [Location], to initiate an investigation into the alleged misconduct by the police officials.
The legal counsel for Varinder Singh has emphasized the fundamental rights of life and liberty even for detainees and undertrials. They cited legal precedents, including the case of D.K Basu Versus State of West Bengal (SC), which highlights that the right to life and liberty guaranteed by Article 21 cannot be denied to individuals in custody except according to the procedure established by law.

Sepco Electric Power Construction Corpn. & Ors., Kailash Vijayvargiya V/S Raj Lakshmi Chaudhari, and Sakiri Vasu Versus State of U.P. and Others (SC) to support their arguments.
