Menstrual discomfort leave or period leave should be made available to female students and workers across India, according to a public interest litigation (PIL) plea that was submitted to the Supreme Court on Tuesday (Shailendra Mani Tripathi v. Union of India and Ors).
With the exception of a few organisations and State governments, the petition claimed that menstrual periods had been purposefully or accidentally disregarded by society, the legislation, and other stakeholders.
In this regard, the petitioner mentioned a few Indian businesses that provide paid time off, including Ivipanan, Zomato, Byju’s, Swiggy, Mathrubhumi, Magzter, Industry, ARC, FlyMyBiz, and Gozoop.
In a plea, attorney Shailendra Mani Tripathi requested the Supreme Court to order state governments to establish guidelines for menstrual pain leaves.
